I got back from Kos in Greece a total of 2 days ago and I’m already going through all the pics and wanting to go back. I already shared a few pics over on Instagram, hi follow me here, but for today’s post, I’ll be sharing the ones that didn’t make the cut.
Although Richard and I have been on our fair few little getaways over the past 3 years, this was our first sun, sea, sand holiday. All we wanted to do was completely relax and boy did we do just that. With the aim of completely unwinding, we stayed in the all inclusive Dimitra Beach Hotel in Kos, Greece.
For the entire week, we spent most of our days just relaxing by a pool that overlooked the sea. With the sound of the sea and this view, I don’t think I have ever felt more relaxed in my entire life. We had BBQs for lunch and sipped on an endless supply of cocktails (my personal fave Mojitos).
My Kos holiday reads
When I wasn’t listening to podcasts (hi Crime Junkie and Thick & Thin), I was reading. I bought three books with me but ended up only reading two of them. The first one I read was Misogynation by Laura Bates. This one I picked up because it runs along similar lines as my dissertation (which btw I might write a blog post about). And the second one was she must be mad by Charly Cox. I had heard lots of good things about her book in various places online and have been following Charly on Insta for a while, so I just had to check it out.
Old town Kos
On one of the days, we ventured into the actual town of Kos. Now I knew it wouldn’t be on quite the same lines as other places in Greece. I knew it wasn’t going to be like Santorini with the white houses and blue roofs, but Kos just didn’t do it for me at all. We walked around for a bit, but with the heat and the “run-downness” of the town, we ended up staying for no more than an hour before going back to our hotel and jumping into to the refreshing pool.
Rich and I both really enjoy taking pics for the gram’. We like making sure we’re getting the right frame and colours that will go with our themes. Could possibly sound sad to some, but everyone needs a hobby, right?
In the evenings, we would get all dressed up and roamed around the hotel during the golden hour to get our Instas. Afterwards, we’d go to the bar and get a cheeky cocktail or two before dinner. Btw, you can follow Richard’s very visually pleasing Insta here.
It was on our very last night that it dawned on us that we actually didn’t have any pictures of the both of us. We were in this little area above, where we set up our phones with the auto-timer to try and get pics. However, right as the first picture was about to be taken, a woman who worked in the hotel asked us if we wanted our pictures taken. She said taking pictures was really something that she was passionate about and took us to all the different places in this area to get the best angle. Bless.
I mean yeah, when I said we walked around during the golden hour I wasn’t kidding.
So yeah, that’s a wrap on one of my favourite holidays with Richard. But how about you guys? Where’s your favourite holiday destination and with who?
Thanks for reading, until next time.
